This is the place for moms In The Making, who smile with the messes, embrace the unexpected, and know that every day is a blessing.

Meet Theresa

Hi I’m Theresa… a mom in the making.

What is a mom in the making?

Once upon time

there was a beautiful mom who loved her baby with all her heart. There was only one problem. He wouldn’t nurse, and he wouldn’t sleep. Even though she had finally achieved her lifelong dream of being a mommy, it was overwhelming and discouraging at times, especially around 3am.

me with woe is me face

This mommy began looking for encouragement. There were tons of perfect moms out there whose babies nursed like champs, slept through the night and these moms were, of course, back in their prepregnancy skinny jeans leaving the hospital.

But what about her? Where were the Moms in the Making? The moms who were still figuring things out. Learning everyday.

Then on a cold winter night long after Cinderella’s carriage turned back into a pumpkin. A Mom in the Making blog was born.

I wanted a place where life wasn’t a fairytale, but I could still live my dream of motherhood.

A little more about me…

4 years ago I married my true love Charles and rose off into the sunset in a carriage… literally :)

- A little know fact, the original horse that was supposed to pull our carriage died 2 days before our wedding leaving us scrambling.

We now have our first son baby Charlie… We wanted to get our son a shirt that says 1st of 10. Obviously, God will ultimately decided how many children we are blessed with, but both my husband and I would love to have a big family.

Growing up I used to say I wanted to have 100 kids. Clearly I didn’t understand morning sickness and labor. But I’m excited to watch our family grow.

Life is always an adventure as my husband and I both work full time. We are constantly trying to balance working and spending time together as a family. Our blogging is very much a family affair. Charlie jr is the cuteness, I dream up a vision, and papa makes it a reality.

In college I studied photoshop, web design, and podcasting because I wanted to be able to create media that gave glory to God… However I didn’t really want to know all the technical skills…I wanted to be the star! just being honest here

God heard my prayer and sent me a husband with endless persistence, who loved to conquer new skills… the summer after we were married he decided to teach himself web design.

It’s a lot of fun being a husband and wife team together. Sometimes we stay up all night just talking about our dreams for the future. Other times it is a struggle, how can we work on a blog post if we can’t decided on how to clean the living room.

Fun note: We are a reverse of the stereotypical couple. I’m the messy one, who doesn’t put my laundry in the hamper or would choose a movie over cleaning anyday. He gets up early, does the dishes before work, irons the laundry and keeps the house on track.

God is a very important part of our life. Last year we wrote and illustrated a book, Bible Characters for Advent, because we wanted to make sure that our son was learning about the true meaning of Christmas.

I am enthusiastic, joyful, and outgoing. When I was in college, I used to say that caffeine was an insult to my personality. I am naturally just that bubbling… All it took was working full time, getting married, buying a house and raising a kiddo to change my tune. I can’t remember the last time I truly felt rested. Instead my days run on frozen coffees and espresso beans. If you really want to make me cry break the coffee machine.

My dream day is filled with Chipotle, Dunkin Donuts, everything pink, and a Panera Frozen Caramel.

Oh yeah and him…

My baby just turned 1 and I feel like I had her yesterday :( In the meantime, its incredible to watch the milestones add up and see the world through her eyes. Ahhh! Mommyhood is the best! I found your blog through DIY Showoff and see that you are a Pittsburgh/Ohio Valley and surrounding areas blogger. As a Pittsburgh blogger myself, I love "meeting" other local bloggers and supporting them. I'm following you and look forward to seeing future posts! Stopping by from Hoyby Crafts.
