I was glancing around my desk at work and amid the piles of to dos, I found the sweetest thing.
I love sweet tea!
I already knew that I loved espresso beans, frappachios, frozen coffees etc but I never quite realized my love for sweet tea, until I was bringing my bottles to be recycled.
I think in trying to save money on coffee I tried sweet tea, but instead of dropping coffee and starting tea, now I like both!!
This got me thinking about life in general and how easy it is to replace one bad habit with another. Or maybe in the name of improving a situation actually make it worst.
I probably won’t quit drinking coffee... I truly love it and I don’t get enough sleep. But if that’s the case I need to quit with the sweet tea, or at least start brewing it myself because now I’m spending money on coffee and tea...
I think you will be surprised at how good just brewing regular tea and then pouring it over ice can be (of course with lots of sugar). I think it tastes the same to be honest and of course then you can make it as sweet as you want it. I have never made it in the sun, so I can't attest to that. =)
ReplyDeleteI have been brewing y own iced tea too! I ripped out a magazine article on it, I can forward you the recipes. You can buy like 50 bags of tea or more for like $1-2 and dissolve sugar or honey (or both if you are me) in it to sweeten it to your preference. Also I definitely need to tell you how I made my own caramel frappecino a couple weeks ago- mmmmmm :-)

ReplyDeletePlease let me know the recipe!!! My mouth is watering!!
ReplyDeleteI make my tea in the microw wave every day. I use a 1 quart large mouth jar. Fill with water. Add 1 family size tea bag. Cook on high 5 minutes. Let set in oven another 5 minutes. Then put the HOT tea in a clean pitcher. Add as much sugar as you like..Add another quart of cold water. Stir well. Now in a big glass add LOTS of ice and then tea...enjoy.
ReplyDeletePerfect! I can't wait to try it! Thank you!
DeleteI'm in my late 30's and drink only sweet tea. I'm from the South, and that's all we've ever drank in our house growing up. When the gallon tea pitcher is empty, you just make more. All my daughter's friends know that I have sweet tea and you can help yourself. The ones who are here often, make it when it's empty! It's easy peasy! I boil some water in my kettle (no exact amount, maybe half a gallon), when it whistles, pour it in the gallon pitcher. Add 1 and 1/2 cups sugar (remember I'm from the South and like my tea sweet, add what you like)! :) Stir the sugar in the hot water, add two Luzianne family size tea bags. Let it sit for about 15 mins (or until it's dark) fill the rest of the pitcher with water. Done!
